CASTLE DALE — North Sanpete High School (NSHS) Hawk swim team traveled to Emery High School Jan. 24 for a region swim meet. The Hawks had great success setting some new school records and also qualifying for state.

Junior Brigham Lewis was the standout of the group as he broke three school records and qualified for state. He took first place in the 100 Breast Stroke against 40 competitors.

Lewis also set a new school record by beating the 200 Freestyle record by a whopping nine seconds. Again, Lewis, along with Alex Mower, Koby Smith, and Neil Briggs, broke the 200 Medley school record by three seconds.

However, it wasn’t just the boys who stole the show at region. Hope Christensen, Annika Black, Emmalene Palmer, and Natalie Day placed third in the 200 Medley and are awaiting to hear if they have qualified for state.

On top of being solid competitors, the Hawks also showed their academic achievements as Koby Smith, Bailey Hansen and Emmalene Palmer were granted Academic All-Region awards.

The Hawk swim team will represent North Sanpete High School at the 3A State Competition on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Brigham Young University.
