Democratic candidate meet and greet Tuesday evening in DeKalb
DeKALB – Have burning questions for Democratic candidates seeking to win or retain office this fall? Several of them will be on hand Tuesday night at JB Pritzker’s local campaign office.
Blue Wave Night for DeKalb County Candidates will take place at 5 p.m. at the office, 2446 Sycamore Road. According to Taylor Godwin with Pritzker’s campaign for governor, Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth have both been invited.
Paul Stoddard of DeKalb, who’s running against Republican Jeff Keicher of Sycamore for the 70th District seat vacated by Bob Pritchard, will be among the local Democratic candidates attending, as well Carolyn Morris of DeKalb, who’s running against incumbent Doug Johnson for DeKalb County Clerk.
Dave Simpson of Shabbona, who is running for the 45th District seat vacated by Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, is expected to be on hand briefly.
Jim Luebke, chairman of the DeKalb County Democratic Party, said by day’s end today, the picture will be clearer on who all will be in attendance.
“It’s exciting to have an event like this in a great location,” Luebke said. “It’s an opportunity for people to meet the candidates and see who’s out there and what’s important to them. It gives the voters who aren’t normally politically engaged a chance to come out and meet their candidates one-on-one.They can ask their questions in an informal setting.”
Luebke did say, however, that 14th Congressional District candidate Lauren Underwood of Naperville and 16th District candidate Sara Dady of Freeport have prior engagements.
