Donald L. Kiesel, 79, of Columbus died Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Prairie Village in Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with Father Mike Swanton celebrating the Mass. Interment was in the All Saints Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Prairie Village.
Don was born Feb. 3, 1939, in Mitchell, Nebraska, to Sylvester and Mildred (Hayes) Kiesel. He grew up in Minatare and graduated from Minatare High School in 1957. In 1961, Don was united in marriage to Jane Schultz in Antigo, Wisconsin. After their marriage, they moved a lot due to Don’s job. After moving to Edmore, Mich.; they then moved to Bay City, Michigan, where their two oldest children, Kay and Karen were born. They then moved to Wayland, New York, where Kurt, Kyle, and Kristin were born. They also lived in Conneaut, Ohio; Bayard, Nebraska; and Fargo, North Dakota, before moving to Columbus in 2005. Don started working for Lockwood Farm Sales and Manufacturing where he would later retire from. After retirement, Don enjoyed working at Menards in Columbus. He was an avid sports fan, and especially liked the Huskers and the Green Bay Packers.
Don is survived by his daughter, Kay (Don) Strecker of Columbus, grandchildren Adam and Matt Strecker, daughter Karen (Tom) Adams of New Castle, Del.; grandson Greg, grandson Tony (Elizabeth), great-grandchildren Jackson, Alex, and Maggie Adams, son Kurt (Sandee) Kiesel of Wilber, grandchildren Sydnee, Savanna, Sheyenne and Konner Kiesel, son Kyle (Julia Galbus) Kiesel of Evansville, Ind; grandchildren Ben, Matt and Joe Kiesel, daughter Kristin Kiesel of Sidney and brother Robert (Eldora) Kiesel of Gering.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Mildred Kiesel and his wife, Jane Kiesel.
