MONROE TWP. — A Kunkle firefighter was hit by a dump truck this morning while trying to slow traffic down as emergency responders handled another accident.

State police said that Jack Husband, 48, of Harveys Lake, was traveling north on Route 309 when his tri-axle vehicle hit 62-year-old Ed Nulton of Monroe Twp.

The wreck happened around 6:37 a.m. at the Lute’s Corners intersection where Routes 309 and 92 come together, according to Kunkle Fire Chief Jack Dodson.

Dodson said that Nulton was flown to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital; he was not sure of the extent of his injuries.

The roads were closed for around 45 minutes while police investigated, Dodson said.
