Local Bridge Unit to host tournament

Pocatello’s ACBL Unit 399 will be hosting a non-life master sectional tournament April 6, 7 and 8, at the Gate City Bridge Club. There will be two sessions of opens pairs on the 6th and 7th, and on the 8th, there will be a Swiss Team event. If you are a non-life master with less than 500 points and are interested in playing, please call Cathy Kratz at 208-569-5406. You will be most welcome.

John Waldal and Jack Triplett took tops honors in the A group on Feb. 6 at the Little Slam Bridge Club. Joy Burke and Shiela Mathiesen followed, second A, and Dick Anderson and Doris Brydon were third in A and first in B. Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen were fourth in A and second in B. Third in B went to Jan Green and Duane Murphy, while Peggy Vogt and Neila Loebs scored a first in C.

Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen won the night on Feb. 13, with firsts in A, B and C. Second in A and B went to John Waldal and Dick Anderson. There was a tie for third in A with the teams of Jeanne Moore and Angela Butterfield, and Steve and Mike Smith.

On Feb. 20, Dick Anderson and John Waldal were the victors in A and B, trailed by Barb Bain and Janice Matteson-Howell, second in both groups. Third in A went to Peggy Vogt and Shiela Mathiesen. There was a three-way tie for fourth in A with the following teams: Jeanne Moore and Doris Brydon, Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen, and Jan Green and Steve Smith.

Anderson and Waldal were winners again on Feb. 27, first in A and B. They barely beat out the team of Cathy and Larry Kratz, second in A and B. Doris Brydon and Ann Bryan were third in both groups, and Jeanne Moore and Shiela Mathiesen were fourth in A. Peggy Vogt and Neila Loebs notched a first in C.
