Carvalho aims for state office
LIHUE — Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. is announcing his candidacy for higher office today on Oahu, according to a press release from the 2018 Carvalho campaign.
While Carvalho is expected to throw his hat into the running for Hawaii governor, some speculate he might run for lieutenant governor.
He will be making the announcement at 2 p.m. in front of the St. Damien statue at the Hawaii State Capitol, 415 S. Beretania St.
He is prohibited by county law from seeking another four-year term as mayor. His current term ends in December 2018.
