Miss Gate City/Miss Pocatello Scholarship Program crowns five new titleholders
POCATELLO - On October 22, the Miss Gate City/Miss Pocatello Scholarship Program crowned five new titleholders that will represent the Greater Gate City Area for the 2017-2018 year.
The event took place at the Palace Playhouse in Chubbuck and had a Diamonds and Pearls theme in honor of Prince. Miss Pocatello’s 2016 Jackie Andreason and Miss Gate City’s Outstanding Teen Ayriss Torres did their final farewell and walk and assisted in the crowing of the five new titleholders along with Ava Powell, the recently crowned Miss Idaho’s Outstanding Teen.
Each of the young ladies that received titles competed in areas of interview, talent, fitness and onstage question and evening gown.
The Pocatello/Miss Gate City Scholarship Program is part of the Miss America system and is a collegiate scholarship program.
The new titleholders representing the great Gate City are Miss Pocatello, Remi Walker who also won highest scoring talent, best interview, and the social media people’s choice award. Miss Gate City, Kate Marshall who also won highest scoring fitness. Miss Pocatello’s Outstanding Teen, Ashlyn Allen who won best interview and highest scoring talent. Miss Gate City’s Outstanding Teen, Madison Andreason who won highest scoring fitness and Miss Bannock County’s Outstanding Teen, Josie Mc Donald who won the social media award.
There were a total of 8 contestants in the Miss category and 9 teens competing for the distinguished titles earned.
Special awards that were given included: Most Congenial went to Ellie Bodily (Miss) and Shea Lynn Knepper (Teen) as well as Most Ad Sales which went to Ellee Cranney. Total scholarships earned were a total of $1, 650 in addition to fitness packages from Jriven Fitness, headshots from Necha Mendoza Photography, eyelash extensions from Boom Esthetics, gift basket from It Works, flowers provided by Flowers by LD. A huge thank you to Idaho Central Credit Union, Portneuf Medical and the Barre Fitness Studio for corporate sponsorships and to Jriven Fitness for donating time for choreography and Necha Mendoza Photography for donating her time for photography.
