Ellen Darcy’s Family Helps Her Celebrate 90
WESTMINSTER -- With very little money and no complaints, Fitchburg’s Ellen Insley Darcy, who raised 12 children, recently celebrated her 90th birthday, early, with a party.
Born in 1928, she graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1946 and worked as a bookkeeper and salesperson at W.T. Grant until she married Rod Darcy.
They were married for 56 years at the time of Rod’s death.
During her birthday celebration, all of her children attended, as did several of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ellen happily lives in an assisted-living apartment in Gardner and is fun to be around and has a great sense of humor, according to her children.
She will officially celebrate her birthday on Aug. 26.
