Gun recovered in NC house where couple was found dead
HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina sheriff’s office says that a gun was recovered from a home where a couple was found dead earlier this week.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office found the bodies of 55-year-old Thomas Bradshaw Claytor and 59-year-old Jennifer Johnson Miles in the home they shared on Wednesday in an unincorporated part of the county northwest of Carrboro.
A coworker had called authorities when Claytor missed two days of work. Deputies arrived and made forced entry, then found the two dead in the bathroom. They appear to have been shot.
The sheriff’s office said Thursday that there were no signs of a struggle and there was a gun between their bodies.
Authorities say there were no signs of an intrusion and they don’t believe any suspects are at large.
