DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran’s president has ordered a probe in the case of a young woman who slipped into a coma while in custody in Tehran and died, state media reported on Friday. The police have said she suffered a heart attack.

Flash flood kills at least 21 people in southern Iran

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Flash floods in Iran's drought-stricken southern Fars province have killed at least 21 people, state television said Saturday.

Heavy rains swelled the Roudbal river by the city of Estahban, according to the city's governor Yousef Karegar.

Iran hangs man convicted of killing clerics in April attack

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran on Monday morning hanged a man convicted of killing two clerics in a stabbing attack in April at a revered Shiite shrine, the country's state television reported.

The report says the death penalty was carried out by hanging after the country’s Supreme Court upheld a verdict issued earlier by a Revolutionary Court in northeastern city of Mashhad, the place of the attack.

Death toll in Iran stabbing attack at holy shrine rises to 2

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — The death toll from a stabbing attack at the most revered Shiite shrine in Iran rose to two on Thursday after another cleric succumbed to his wounds, Iran's state TV reported.

The victim, identified only by his last name, Daraei, died at a hospital in the holy northeastern city of Mashhad, after being stabbed at the city's Imam Reza shrine on Tuesday.
