Bowl-eligible New Mexico State drubs Valparaiso

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Diego Pavia threw a career-high four touchdown passes, all in the first half, and New Mexico State celebrated bowl-eligibility with a 65-3 rout of Valparaiso on Saturday.

Pavia's TD throws were 50 yards to Jonathan Brady, 69 yards to Justice Powers, 70 yards to Kordell David, and 72 yards to Bryce Childress.

Frakes leads New Mexico State past New Mexico 21-9

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Freshman Gavin Frakes threw two touchdown passes and New Mexico State breezed to a 21-9 victory over New Mexico on Saturday night.

After Luke Drzewiecki's 44-yard field goal staked New Mexico (2-5) to a 3-0 lead, Frakes fired a 22-yard scoring strike to Ahmonte Watkins with three minutes left in the first quarter and New Mexico State (2-5) never trailed again.

New Mexico St. runs for 353 yards in 45-26 win over Hawaii

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Star Thomas had 144 yards rushing and a touchdown on 11 carries, Jamoni Jones scored on runs of 3 and 2 yards and New Mexico State beat Hawaii 45-26 Saturday night.

New Mexico State coach Jerry Kill replaced Doug Martin, who went 25-74 overall and had one season with more than three wins (7-6 in 2017), got his first win with the Aggies (1-4).
