MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Defensive tackle Alan Branch is among the inactives for the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Jaguars free safety Tashaun Gipson is active for Sunday's AFC championship game against the Patriots.
Gipson had been listed as questionable with a foot injury. The inactive players for Jacksonville are running back Chris Ivory, defensive ends Eli Ankou and Carrol Phillips, linebacker Deon King, and offensive linemen Chris Reed, Josh Walker and Williams Poehls.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Patriots say quarterback Tom Brady did not attend a scheduled AFC championship news conference Wednesday because he was meeting with the team medical staff for a right hand injury.
According to New England's first injury report of the week, Brady was a limited participant in the practice held earlier in the day.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Patriots will be without running backs Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee when they host the Titans in the divisional round Saturday night.
Both Burkhead and Gillislee are out with knee injuries. With them out, the primary rushing duties will fall to Dion Lewis and James White.
Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden will miss his fifth straight game with a fractured left leg, meaning rookie Cameron Sutton will make his first career start against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Haden practiced this week and hoped he would be able to return. Instead the Steelers will turn to Sutton, a third-round pick.
Pittsburgh will have rookie wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was limited during the week with a hamstring injury.
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — New England star tight end Rob Gronkowski is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a thigh injury.
The Super Bowl champions added Gronkowski to the injury report after practice Wednesday, listing him as questionable. He's second on the team this season with 20 receptions for 318 yards and two touchdowns.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Patriots have re-signed Alan Branch, securing one of the key pieces of their defensive line.
New England made the announcement Monday. In addition, the team also signed restricted free agent offensive lineman Cameron Fleming to a deal.
Branch started 15 regular-season games and all three playoff games last season, totaling two sacks and 27 tackles.
