HOUSTON (AP) — DeAndre Hopkins had the best season of his career, carrying Houston's receivers in a year the group was decimated by injuries.
Now the self-described best receiver in the NFL will need another big performance for the Texans to get a win over the Colts in the wild-card game on Saturday.
"I feel like I'm a leader of this team, not just this offense," Hopkins said. "I was named captain, so for me to go out and play my best game is important, not just for me but for this team."
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Running back Frank Gore came to Indianapolis with Super Bowl aspirations.
Three years later, he's leaving without a ring or an assurance he'll ever play another football game.
General manager Chris Ballard announced Wednesday the Colts do not intend to re-sign the 34-year-old, soon-to-be free agent, who is ranked No. 5 in career rushing.
HOUSTON (AP) — Andre Johnson was honored by the Houston Texans on Wednesday for his stellar career, and the star receiver had plenty of people he wanted to thank.
The list included teammates, coaches and family. But special praise was reserved for his mom, whom Johnson said made numerous sacrifices to raise him.
HOUSTON (AP) — Andre Johnson will sign a one-day contract with Houston on Wednesday so he can retire as a Texan.
Johnson was released in 2014 after spending his first 12 seasons with the Texans. He spent one season with the Colts before retiring last season after spending the first eight games with the Titans.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Wide receiver Andre Johnson says his mother taught him when people decide to take their leave they should exit the same way they entered.
That explains why he quietly retired midway through his 14th NFL season.
Johnson posted his statement Wednesday on Instagram, his first comment on his decision two days after telling Tennessee Titans coach Mike Mularkey he was retiring.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have placed wide receiver Andre Johnson on the reserve/retired list and replaced him on the roster by promoting receiver Tre McBride from the practice squad.
The Titans announced the moves Tuesday.
Johnson informed the Titans (4-4) of his retirement Monday, ending his 14-year career ranked ninth all-time in receptions and 10th in yards receiving. He caught nine passes in eight games this season.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Andre Johnson called Tennessee coach Mike Mularkey, asking if they could talk Monday morning. After 14 NFL seasons, the man with more catches than anyone else currently playing had made up his mind.
Time to retire.
"He said he's been contemplating it for weeks and his heart was not in it," Mularkey said Monday. "This is a tough business to be in when your heart's not in it."
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Andre Johnson grabbed the ball going out of bounds on Cleveland's second onside kick within two minutes, finally allowing the Tennessee Titans to relax.
It's the kind of winning play the Titans simply haven't made enough in recent years on their own field.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Andre Johnson keeps himself loose and warm on the Tennessee Titans' sideline, walking around and exercising by lifting his knees up towards his chest.
DETROIT (AP) — The Tennessee Titans are already a third of the way to last season's victory total, thanks to Marcus Mariota's poise in the fourth quarter against Detroit.
Mariota's 9-for-9 performance on the winning drive Sunday was an encouraging step for the second-year quarterback, who is trying to help the Titans improve on a three-win season in 2015.
DETROIT (AP) — Marcus Mariota moved the Tennessee Titans down the field like a savvy veteran, not a second-year pro, and completed all nine of his throws to complete a comeback a week after his turnovers hurt his team's shot to win.
Mariota converted a fourth down with a perfectly lofted 9-yard touchdown pass to Andre Johnson with 1:13 left, lifting the Titans to a 16-15 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Here's a glance at today'ss NFL preseason games. All times Eastern:
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett have a clear mission this season: Become consistent, quality receivers.
The Colts' playoff hopes may depend on it.
"We've got to step up and make plays," Moncrief said. "We have to help out T.Y. (Hilton)."
ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Four years ago, T.Y. Hilton walked into his NFL first training camp as something of an unknown.
Now 26, Hilton returns in a new role — as the most accomplished receiver on the Indianapolis Colts' roster. He's also the oldest member of his position group and its unquestioned leader.
"Naturally guys grow into that role and he embraced that role as far as a leader, mentoring the young guys," coach Chuck Pagano said. "But really it was by his...
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Andre Johnson has been working out every day since March, making sure he would be ready when an NFL team called for the services of the man with the most catches and yards of anyone still playing.
He waited a long time before the call finally came.
The 13-year veteran jumped on a plane Friday night and flew to Tennessee, making the Titans his third stop in three years in the four-team AFC South. He spent an hour with coaches before going to...
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Andre Johnson.
The Titans also added offensive lineman Ronald Patrick on Friday. Terms were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-3 Johnson has 1,053 catches for 14,100 yards and 68 touchdowns. He ranks eighth in NFL history with receptions and ninth in yards receiving, leading active players in those categories.
The third pick overall in 2003 spent his first 12...
NEW YORK (AP) — They were once big names with huge contracts. Now, several former NFL stars are unsigned and unemployed, anxiously awaiting another — and, maybe, final — opportunity to get back on the football field.
Just a few years ago, a list that included Anquan Boldin, Reggie Bush, Wes Welker, Andre Johnson and Roddy White would have highlighted the league's best playmakers. But age, injuries, contract squabbles and off-field issues have the NFL's unemployment...
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (8-8)
OPEN CAMP: July 26, Anderson, Indiana
LAST YEAR: Andrew Luck never looked right and neither did Colts. Luck missed nine games because of injuries, forcing coach Chuck Pagano to survive worst season of four-year tenure with five quarterbacks. Instead of contending for Super Bowl trip, as widely expected, Indy missed playoffs for only second time since 2002.
IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: C Ryan Kelly, CB Patrick Robinson, RB Robert Turbin, QB...
