PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) — Anne Donovan was remembered as a gentle, kind, patriotic and loyal woman at a memorial service Saturday.
The 56-year-old Basketball Hall of Famer died on June 13 of heart failure and a few hundred people, including former players, coaches, referees and friends, filled the Paramus Catholic High School auditorium where she starred in the late 1970s.
SEATTLE (AP) — Natasha Howard scored a career-high 25 points, Breanna Stewart had 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals, and the Seattle Storm beat the Connecticut Sun 103-92 on Friday night.
Seattle had two four-point possessions in the fourth quarter, the last for a 93-84 lead. The Storm had only one field goal in the final five minutes but made enough free throws.
To many in the world of women's basketball, Anne Donovan was a giant. And not just because she stood 6-foot-8.
She won a national championship at Old Dominion, two Olympic gold medals as a player and another as a coach in her storied career.
