MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The refreshed Dallas Cowboys had a steady hand back at quarterback, eager to initiate the same post-bye bounce the Minnesota Vikings had been enjoying this month.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State defensive lineman Eurndraus Bryant appears to be OK after he was carted off the field and taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary X-rays during the first half Saturday against James Madison.
Bryant gave a thumbs-up to the crowd as he was carted away. The school later said the X-rays were negative for a fracture and the team's Twitter account noted Bryant returned to the sideline by the end of the game.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Kenny Pickett never doubted he'd be here.
Not as a scrawny 130-pound freshman quarterback growing up in New Jersey. Not when he enrolled early at Pittsburgh in the spring of 2017 as a distant third on the depth chart behind Max Browne and Ben DiNucci. Not last fall, when the losses piled up for the Panthers and Pickett kept running the scout team knowing head coach Pat Narduzzi wanted to redshirt him.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A year ago, Kenny Pickett found himself buried at third on the Pittsburgh depth chart during spring drills, as tends to happen to freshmen who've been on campus all of a few weeks.
Not that Pickett ever thought of himself as a third-stringer. That's simply not his way.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pat Narduzzi is intent on creating a competitive atmosphere at every position on his team. Especially quarterback.
So the Pittsburgh coach is hardly apologetic about his unusual approach for handling a carousel that shows no signs of slowing even as Halloween approaches.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — For the second straight year, quarterback Max Browne lost the starting job after three games.
Last season, it happened at Southern Cal, where he gave way to then-freshman Sam Darnold after an 0-3 start. This season, after transferring to Pittsburgh, Browne started 1-2 and lost the job to redshirt sophomore Ben DiNucci.
This time, Browne appears to have regained his starting job. Browne got the nod on Saturday and threw four touchdowns passes in the Panthers' 42-10 rout of Rice.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh coach Pat Narduzzi closed practice this week and made his quarterbacks off limits to the media. Clearly Narduzzi is tired of talking about his team's inability to find any sort of offensive rhythm, one that is lacking regardless of who is under center.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A month into the season, Pitt has more quarterbacks (two) than wins (one). That's not exactly how coach Pat Narduzzi drew it up when he named Max Browne the starter coming out of training camp.
Yet the Panthers (1-3) will take a three-game losing streak into Saturday's nonconference game against Rice (1-3) still searching for some kind — any kind — of offensive cohesion.
"Watching improvement week to week, it's not as much as you'd like to see," Narduzzi said.
ATLANTA (AP) — The mystery of who will start at quarterback for Pittsburgh in Saturday's Atlantic Coast Conference opener at Georgia Tech hasn't been a concern for Yellow Jackets coach Paul Johnson.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Three weeks into the season, Pitt remains a mystery. At least to its head coach.
Pat Narduzzi isn't sure who his quarterback is or how the Panthers as a whole will react after getting drilled 59-21 by Oklahoma State last weekend.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pat Narduzzi likes to play a game with the Pittsburgh depth chart. Most weeks the Panthers head coach will put an "OR" between two names at a given position. Sometimes the "OR" is simply a motivational tool to get a starter to snap out of a funk. Sometimes it's to reward a backup who is pushing for more playing time.
While there were "ORs" at defensive end, free safety and cornerback on the depth chart released Monday, there was not one at quarterback.
