ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Even though Brandon Marshall was expecting it, Friday's news that he had likely played his last game in a Denver Broncos uniform threw him for a bit of a loop.
"It's just different when it's in the news and everybody knows about it and it's not just you and your agent talking about it," Marshall said after the Broncos told his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, that they don't plan to pick up the linebacker's option.
DENVER (AP) — Pass rusher Shane Ray and safety Su'a Cravens are healthy scratches for the Denver Broncos' game against the Cleveland Browns.
The Broncos (6-7) also are without pass rusher Shaq Barrett (hip) and cornerbacks Chris Harris Jr. (broken right leg) and rookie Isaac Yiadom (separated right shoulder). All three were ruled out Friday.
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have released veteran receiver Brandon Marshall, who had not been active on game day since signing one month ago.
Marshall's release made room on the roster for tight end Erik Swoope, whom New Orleans has claimed off of waivers from Indianapolis.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — New Orleans Saints receiver Tre'Quan Smith is active against Dallas on Thursday night after missing a game with a toe injury, and Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith will miss his second straight game with a neck issue.
Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is expected to make his first start in six games because of an injured throwing shoulder when Miami visits the Indianapolis Colts.
Tannehill will be without tight end A.J. Derby, who will miss his sixth game since Sept. 23 with foot and knee injuries. Nick O'Leary is starting in his place.
Colts center Ryan Kelly is out with a sprained ligament in his left knee.
Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa will make his season debut on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
Bosa missed the first nine games due to a bone bruise to his left foot. He is expected to see limited snaps, with Damion Square likely getting the start.
Bosa and the Chargers will face a Broncos offensive line that is missing two starters to season-ending injuries.
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Brandon Marshall takes nothing for granted when discussing his opportunity to join the Saints' seemingly inevitable march to the postseason.
"Let's not jump ahead. I've got a lot of learning to do and a lot of catching up," Marshall said after his first practice with New Orleans on Wednesday. "I've been at the top and I'm on the bottom right now."
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Saints coach Sean Payton says the Saints have signed veteran receiver Brandon Marshall.
Marshall's addition adds depth to an offense that already leads the NFL in scoring with 36.7 points per game and ranks in the top five in yards per game with 413.9.
Last week, the Saints signed receiver Dez Bryant, but he tore his Achilles in only his second practice and never played a game for New Orleans.
DENVER (AP) — With the NFL's volcanic offenses, can't-hit-them-too-hard rules and bewildered officials, linebackers today aren't the snarling 250-pound thumpers who used to just give running backs fits.
"Now we have to cover well, too," Denver's Brandon Marshall said. "We still have to tackle well. So, you can't be real light and only playing pass or too heavy and only playing run. You've got to be able to do all of it, man."
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos will be without starters Bradley Roby, Darian Stewart, Brandon Marshall and rookie returner DaeSean Hamilton for their game against the Houston Texans on Sunday.
The Broncos activated safety Su'a Cravens off injured reserve and replaced receiver Isaiah McKenzie with River Cracraft on Friday.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday released wide receiver Brandon Marshall, whose role within the offense had diminished significantly.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Denver Broncos quarterback Case Keenum returned to practice Thursday after missing a day with a sore knee.
Keenum didn't want to miss Wednesday's workout but said he understood that being cautious in September will give him a better chance of staying in the lineup all season.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — At various points during his recovery, when he was traveling to Germany and Switzerland and England to try out the latest treatments, Brandon Marshall spent nearly as much time fighting doubt as he did trying to overcome his injuries.
His world is now centered in Seattle, the sixth stop in his 13-year career. It's a stop where he may start and will likely be a heavy contributor when the Seahawks open the regular season Sunday in Denver, the place where he first became a star.

DENVER (AP) — Linebacker Brandon Marshall and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas weren't with their teammates on the sideline for the national anthem prior to the Denver Broncos' game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday night.
Marshall and Thomas emerged from the tunnel behind the Broncos' bench after the anthem was over.
In Arizona, Los Angeles Chargers starting left tackle Russell Okung raised his fist during the anthem prior to the team's game against the Cardinals.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos don't put their full pads on until Tuesday but they're already a banged-up bunch.
Newly signed receiver Corey "Philly" Brown is in concussion protocol after hitting his head in the weight room and when the Broncos put on shoulder pads for the first time Monday several players hobbled off.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Before he left town a few weeks ago after working out for the Seahawks, Brandon Marshall picked up a little bit of Seattle-related gear at the airport.
He was that confident an opportunity to continue his career was going to happen with the Seahawks.
"I went in there and bought a couple of things, some shirts, socks because I knew that moment was going to happen. I felt good about the workout," Marshall said.
RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall has indicated on social media he's joining the Seattle Seahawks.
Marshall posted a series of pictures on Instagram on Tuesday decked out in a green Seahawks jersey, one captioned "Let's go," and another with Marshall saying he's always wanted to play before Seattle's fans.
ATLANTA (AP) — The NFL and the players' union will host a symposium on mental health on May 14.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants will probably look to improve their lines in the second day of the NFL draft after taking running back Saquon Barkley of Penn State with the second pick overall.
The offensive line struggled last season and could use a couple of guards. The defensive line will need a pass rusher following the recent trade of end Jason Pierre-Paul to Tampa Bay.
New York has the second pick in both the second and third rounds.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants have terminated the contract of veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
General manager Dave Gettleman confirmed the move on Thursday during his pre-draft news conference. He says the 34-year-old Marshall failed his physical.
Marshall was scheduled to make $5 million this season.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Kirk Cousins was the unequivocal jewel of this year's free agent quarterback class in just about everyone's mind but John Elway's.
"We got our guy," the Denver Broncos general manager said Friday at Case Keenum's introductory news conference. "We got the guy that was our target."
Even though Keenum was No. 1 in Elway's eyes, he was viewed over the last several weeks as something of a runner-up even in the Broncos locker room.
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Todd Davis has grown accustomed to following fellow inside linebacker Brandon Marshall's lead.
Like Marshall, Davis has excelled in Denver after getting cut multiple times by another NFL team.
Like Marshall, Davis is the team's Ed Block Courage Award recipient, winning it this year, two years after Marshall.
Like Marshall, Davis is positioned to cash in on free agency, too.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Eli Manning is going to be without his top two receivers for the New York Giants' regular-season finale against the Washington Redskins.
Interim coach Steve Spagnulo said Friday that rookie tight end Evan Engram and wide receiver Sterling Shepard will not play on Sunday.
Engram, who leads the team with receptions (64) and TD catches (6), has a rib injury. Shepard, who leads the team with 731 yards receiving, has a neck injury.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — There will be no question about Eli Manning's future with the New York Giants if he keeps playing like this.
Manning brought out one of his vintage games Sunday, throwing for a season-high 434 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-29 loss to the NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles.
The NFL's all-injury team may be better than the All-Pro team this season.
Aaron Rodgers behind center. David Johnson and Dalvin Cook in the backfield. Odell Beckham Jr., Julian Edelman and Brandon Marshall at wide receiver. Greg Olsen and Tyler Eifert split tight end reps. Joe Thomas and Jason Peters anchor the offensive line.
Then there's Deshaun Watson, Carson Palmer, Sam Bradford and Ryan Tannehill. Derek Carr and Jameis Winston have also missed a few games.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — With all the injuries to the New York Giants' receivers, rookie tight end Evan Engram has emerged as the go-to guy for Eli Manning.
The first-round draft pick has caught 11 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns in the past two games. He also has been the only receiver to get open on a consistent basis since Odell Beckham Jr., Brandon Marshall and Sterling Shepard sustained ankle injuries in a loss to the Chargers on Oct. 8.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Heading into their bye, the Seattle Seahawks had a good idea about the team they would be facing in a couple of weeks.
The New York Giants were winless. Their offense relied on Eli Manning and the passing game, and the defense was having a down year after helping new coach Ben McAdoo end a four-year postseason drought.
The Seahawks (3-2) are going to see a much different opponent when they face the Giants (1-5) on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Mike Sullivan has become the new face of the New York Giants' offense.
After more than a year as the team's offensive coordinator, the 50-year-old Sullivan was given the job of calling the plays on offense after the Giants lost their first five games in Ben McAdoo's second season as head coach.
McAdoo had called the plays since arriving as the offensive coordinator under Tom Coughlin in 2014. He kept doing the job when he became the head coach last season.
DENVER (AP) — One suspension, three season-ending surgeries, six sidelined starters and seven lineup changes to accommodate this whole mess.
Not exactly the usual path to success, but one the New York Giants successfully navigated in a stunning 23-10 win Sunday night over the bewildered Denver Broncos .
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The injury situation has gotten worse for the New York Giants.
After losing three wide receivers to season-ending injuries last weekend, the winless Giants said Friday that five more starters will miss Sunday's night game in Denver against the Broncos (3-1) because of injuries.
Defensive end Olivier Vernon will miss a second straight game with a sprained ankle. Center Weston Richburg (concussion) and running back Paul Perkins (ribs) also will be out again.
DENVER (AP) — Aqib Talib is bummed out, although not nearly as much as Eli Manning.
Like so many football fans, the star Denver Broncos cornerback was eager for his marquee matchup with Odell Beckham Jr. before the Giants star receiver broke his left ankle against the Chargers last week.
"I love going against the best, and just to see him go out like that is just ugly," Talib said. "I don't even like to think about it. I definitely was looking forward to the matchup. Maybe next year."

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Eli Manning isn't going to have to explain the New York Giants' offense to his new receivers.
Tavarres King, Travis Rudolph and Ed Eagan know it. King was with the team last year and made the 53-man roster before being released after spraining his ankle early in the season.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Three-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has had surgery for a broken left ankle.
The Giants announced Tuesday that Beckham had the surgery on Monday night in New York.
Beckham was hurt Sunday in the fourth quarter of a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The team said Monday that the surgery was planned for later in the week. It didn't explain the schedule change.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The winless New York Giants are going to be without offensive catalyst Odell Beckham Jr. for the rest of the season.
Veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall's season is over, too.
Fantasy football is a game of attrition. If your team can stay relatively healthy, your odds of winning increase dramatically.
Each and every week, fantasy owners hope and pray that their players don't end up getting hurt and missing time. Injuries are why it's so important to have depth on your team — you just never know when you will lose several key players.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Giants couldn't win with Odell Beckham Jr. in the lineup and now they face the prospect of playing the rest of the season without him.
And Beckham's broken left ankle wasn't the only injury for Giants receivers in their 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
