BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — With the weather turning warm and dry, North Dakota's Game and Fish Department is prohibiting open burning on the Oahe Wildlife Management Area south of Bismarck-Mandan.

Burn bans this time of year are not unusual — the heavily wooded recreation area along the Missouri River is prone to wildfires before the spring green-up.

All open burning including campfires is banned. The use of portable grills is allowed but extreme caution is advised.

The Bernalillo County Commission voted in favor of the burn ban resolution at a meeting Tuesday. The ban will affect the unincorporated areas of the county.

CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) — Dry conditions across eastern New Mexico have prompted officials in one county to impose a burn ban.

The Curry County Commission adopted the ban during a meeting earlier this week. The resolution prohibits open flames outside of a building in the unincorporated portions of the county, with some exceptions.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Warm temperatures and a prolonged drought have prompted Gov. Mary Fallin to expand a burn ban to include 52 counties.

Fallin said Thursday that conditions have deteriorated since she issued a burn ban covering 40 counties on Jan. 30 and that parched areas of the state are in extreme wildfire danger.

The ban on outdoor burning will remain in place until March 2. Several counties in eastern Oklahoma have implemented county commissioner-issued bans that also remain are in effect.

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. (AP) — Officials have lifted a ban on campfires in North Cascades National Park, which officials say compliments the rescinding of campfire restrictions throughout the northwestern part of the state.

North Cascades National Park Service Complex spokeswoman Denise Shultz said Tuesday the ban put into place earlier this month because of extreme fire danger is over, effective immediately.

She says campfires in the national park are allowed in designated areas at campsites.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — State officials have issued burn bans in four Iowa counties due to dry conditions.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety's State Fire Marshal issued the bans this week for Decatur in southern Iowa and Lee, Wapello and Muscatine counties in southeastern Iowa.

The ban prohibits open burning unless a fire chief issues a permit and supervision is planned.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A 10-day burn ban is in effect in a northeast Oklahoma county as the chance for wildfire outbreaks continue throughout much of the area.

Emergency managers in Tulsa County approved a resolution by commissioners on Friday after consulting with area fire departments about the risk for wildfire danger. The ban ends March 6.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Gov. Mary Fallin has cancelled a burn ban in she recently issued for 53 counties in Oklahoma.

Fallin cancelled the ban Wednesday at the recommendation of Oklahoma Forestry Services after an analysis of the impact of widespread rainfall in the affected counties.

Lifting of the governor's ban does not affect county burn bans previously in place in nine Oklahoma counties. Those counties are Adair, Atoka, Bryan, Canadian, Coal, Haskell, Hughes, Oklahoma and Pittsburg counties.

Fallin's office issued the ban Friday for 53 of Oklahoma's 77 counties. Except for a handful of counties in far southwestern Oklahoma, most of the state is in some state of drought.

The National Weather Service warned Saturday that wildfires could rapidly develop this weekend in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas.
