Terms of the deal announced Friday were not disclosed.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Cardinals have signed veteran tight end Charles Clay to a one-year contract.
Terms of the deal announced Tuesday were not disclosed.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have released underperforming and high-priced veteran tight end Charles Clay.
The move was announced Friday, and did not come as a surprise after Clay's playing time diminished behind Jason Croom and Logan Thomas over the final six weeks of last season. Clay had one season left on a five-year contract, and was due to make a $4.5 million base salary.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Josh Allen has unfinished business he'd like to attend to before the rookie quarterback's season comes to a close this weekend.
Specifically, Allen is still stung by how he came oh-so-close to beating AFC East rival Miami in his first meeting, a 21-17 loss for Buffalo four weeks ago.
"I relived it a few times. It's one of those plays where it (stinks)," Allen said.
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — For Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake, the game's final play was like too many others, and spent chasing Josh Allen.
Zigzag scrambling by the Buffalo Bills' rookie quarterback sent Wake running to his right and then his left and then his right again, with the playground pursuit ending only when Allen stopped and made a desperation fourth-down heave to the end zone.
"You're winning at getting to the quarterback," Wake said. "It's just that he wouldn't cooperate."
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Jordan Phillips' eagerness to get the last word backfired on the Buffalo Bills.
The animated defensive tackle drew a costly penalty for taunting his former team, setting up a touchdown with nine minutes left that helped the Miami Dolphins rally past Buffalo 21-17 on Sunday.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Safeties Micah Hyde and Rafael Bush are questionable for Buffalo's game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Neither player practiced all week. Hyde, one of Buffalo's best defenders, has been considered week-to-week with a groin injury. Bush, Buffalo's third safety, has been considered day-to-day.
Their status leaves the Bills with only two healthy safeties in Jordan Poyer and rookie Siran Neal. The Bills have one safety, Dean Marlowe, on their practice squad.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills list LeSean McCoy as questionable for their game at Green Bay on Sunday even though the running back vowed he'll play earlier this week.
McCoy spent the past three days practicing on a limited basis and in a non-contact jersey after missing one game with an injury to his rib cartilage. McCoy's backup, Marcus Murphy, is also considered questionable after hurting his rib in a 27-6 win at Minnesota last weekend.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy vows he's playing at Green Bay on Sunday after missing one game with a rib cartilage injury.
McCoy made the announcement after saying he was able to run at full speed during practice Wednesday. McCoy has been sidelined since Bills center Ryan Groy fell on the left side of McCoy's chest in the third quarter of Buffalo's 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 16.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills receiver Kelvin Benjamin will not play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday because of an injured right knee.
The Bills say Benjamin did not travel with the team Saturday. He was hurt while being tackled on a 20-yard reception on Buffalo's opening drive in a 54-24 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend.
He was playing only his second game with Buffalo since his trade from Carolina on Oct. 31.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills will be without left tackle Cordy Glenn and wide receiver Zay Jones for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints.
Both did not practice all week. Glenn has an injured foot and ankle. Jones also has an ankle problem.
Tight end Charles Clay and cornerback E.J. Gaines are questionable. Clay has missed the last three games with a knee injury. Gaines has missed two games because of a hamstring injury.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Buffalo Bills newly acquired wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin will not play against the New York Jets.
Benjamin warmed up with quarterback Tyrod Taylor about two hours before kickoff Thursday night, but was among the Bills' inactives after being acquired from Carolina on Tuesday for third- and seventh-round draft picks.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills will be without cornerback E.J. Gaines for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders because of a hamstring injury.
He was injured during a Week 7 win over Tampa Bay. Gaines has been Buffalo's No. 2 cornerback since arriving in a preseason trade with the Los Angeles Rams. He has 24 tackles, one interception and two forced fumbles in five games.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have restocked their injury-thinned offense by signing receiver Deonte Thompson.
Thompson has five-plus seasons of NFL experience and had 11 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown with Chicago before being released by the Bears last week. Thompson played his first two seasons with Baltimore and then had no catches in playing one game for Buffalo in 2014.
Overall, he has 50 catches for 602 yards and three touchdowns in 42 games.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — As if the Buffalo offense wasn't anemic enough already, now it's being thinned by injuries.
Tight end Charles Clay is out indefinitely after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, coach Sean McDermott announced Monday, a day after the team's top receiving threat was hurt in a 20-16 loss at Cincinnati .
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo Bills starting tight end Charles Clay is out indefinitely after having surgery on his left knee.
Without providing a specific timetable, coach Sean McDermott said Clay will miss "multiple weeks." Buffalo (3-2) enters its bye week off following a 20-16 loss at Cincinnati.
Clay was hurt while being tackled along the sideline after making a 24-yard catch in the first quarter against the Bengals.
Week 2 was tough on tight ends in fantasy football as five big names suffered injuries — none bigger than Greg Olsen of the Panthers breaking his right foot.
Olsen is expected to miss about six to eight weeks after having surgery on Monday. Rob Gronkowski (groin), Jordan Reed (chest), Jimmy Graham (ankle) and Tyler Eifert (back/knee) are all questionable to play this week.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The new-look Buffalo Bills might be better than advertised under rookie head coach Sean McDermott.
The Jets, however, opened the season playing well below even their meager expectations.
Tyrod Taylor showed no lingering signs of a concussion that sidelined him for two weeks by throwing two touchdowns in a 21-12 win on Sunday. The Bills never trailed after opening the scoring on Taylor's 1-yard touchdown pass to Charles Clay 3 1/2 minutes into the second quarter.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The Buffalo Bills have promoted tight end Gerald Christian from the practice squad.
According to the team's website, Buffalo's starting tight end, Charles Clay, did not travel with the team to Oakland on Saturday because of the expected birth of his child. Clay did not practice this week because of a knee injury and was listed as questionable to play Sunday against the Raiders.
