McWilliams-Franklin was named interim coach on Sunday after Fred Williams was fired.

Connecticut (19-13) has won seven of eight, and it is fourth in the playoff standings.

The game was the first for the Aces after they decided not to play in Washington on Friday night because of travel woes that took the team nearly 26 hours to get to D.C. That game was canceled and the teams are still waiting for the league to decide what to do with the game.

Layshia Clarendon beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter with a runner in the lane to extend Connecticut's lead to 64-58. The Sun opened up a double-digit lead early in the fourth and Jones made 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions for an 85-68 advantage.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Shekinna Stricklen scored a season-high 24 points and tied a WNBA record with eight 3-pointers to help the Connecticut Sun beat the Dallas Wings 92-75 on Sunday.

Stricklen finished 8 of 11 from 3-point range and matched the mark set by Diana Taurasi, who has made eight 3-pointers three times, and Riquna Williams, who has done it once.

Courtney Williams and Jonquel Jones added 15 points each for the Sun (13-12).

Seattle had two four-point possessions in the fourth quarter, the last for a 93-84 lead. The Storm had only one field goal in the final five minutes but made enough free throws.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Elena Delle Donne scored 36 points, Kristi Toliver added 25 and the Washington Mystics blew a 30-point lead before rallying past the Connecticut Sun, 95-91 on Wednesday night.

Washington led 31-15 at the end of the first quarter and extended it to 57-27 late in the second on Toliver's 3-pointer.

Chiney Ogwumike, who missed all of last season with an injury, topped Nneka for the first time in six professional meetings. Nneka Ogwumike had 19 points.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — WNBA coach of the year Curt Miller has received a contract extension from the Connecticut Sun.

Miller, who also serves as the team's general manager, was heading into the last year of a three-year deal.

The team announced the new deal Tuesday but did not disclose financial terms. The contract is designed to keep Miller in Connecticut through the 2021 season.

Connecticut's Curt Miller is the WNBA's Coach of the Year and the Sun's Jonquel Jones earned the league's most improved player award on Sunday, the league announced.

Miller led the Sun to a fourth-place finish in the standings after the team lost Chiney Ogwumike to an injury before the season. Connecticut lost five of its first six games before winning 17 of the next 21. He received 36 votes from a national panel of 40 sportswriters and broadcasters.

NEW YORK (AP) — When the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement runs out in a few years, an injury list or roster expansion will be one of the issues that the union discusses with the league.

The Connecticut Sun signed Chiney Ogwumike to a multiyear extension Saturday while she is recovering from Achilles tendon surgery.

The WNBA does not have an injured reserve list, leaving a team with limited options in dealing with players who will miss the year because of injuries. The Sun, in strictly a procedural move, suspended Ogwumike to free a roster spot. The team opens training camp Sunday and can have only 15 active players.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut Sun forward Chiney Ogwumike has had Achilles tendon surgery after hurting her left leg playing in China last month.

The operation was Wednesday. The timetable for recovery from such a procedure is typically six to nine months.

Ogwumike missed all of the 2015 season while recovering from surgery on her right knee. She bounced back last season to win AP Comeback Player of the Year honors.

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Alex Bentley scored 21 points, Jasmine Thomas had 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals, and the Connecticut Sun beat the San Antonio Stars 89-62 on Tuesday night.

Bentley made back-to back 3-pointers to start the game as the Sun scored 22 of the first 27 points. Thomas and Bentley each had eight points during the spurt and Connecticut cruised from there.
