SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Colin Kaepernick is a free agent after opting out of his San Francisco 49ers contract Friday.
The six-year veteran quarterback who drew particular attention and headlines last season by not standing for the national anthem, met with new general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan before making the move.

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is inactive as expected, but running back Dion Lewis is active for Sunday's game with the San Francisco 49ers.
Gronkowski injured his chest in the second quarter of last week's game against the Seattle Seahawks after taking a hard hit from safety Earl Thomas. He returned to the game, but did not practice all week.
