SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Leon Hall and defensive lineman Datone Jones to one-year deals.

The 49ers waived defensive lineman Xavier Cooper and released tight end Logan Paulsen on Tuesday to make room on the roster.

Hall spent a little more than a week with the 49ers earlier this month before being released after not playing a game.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions have put defensive tackle Haloti Ngata on injured reserve.

Ngata left Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers with an elbow injury. He had two sacks in five starts this year.

The Lions signed defensive tackle Caraun Reid and defensive end Datone Jones. They also cut linebacker Thurston Armbrister on Wednesday.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — With Clay Matthews and Nick Perry, the Green Bay Packers feel great about their starting outside linebackers.

The depth hasn't quite developed, though, which is why the team hosted free agent Ahmad Brooks on Tuesday. Brooks, a two-time second-team All-Pro, was released by the San Francisco 49ers last week.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have signed free agent tackle Ricky Jean-Francois, adding depth to a defensive front depleted in the offseason.

General manager Ted Thompson did not disclose terms of the deal announced on Friday.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have signed defensive end Datone Jones, the former first-round pick of the rival Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings finalized the one-year deal on Tuesday with Jones, who was selected 26th overall out of UCLA in the 2013 draft. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Jones played in 59 of a possible 64 regular-season games, mostly as a backup.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Marcus Mariota's mobility presents a predicament to the Green Bay Packers' pass rush.

Go after Mariota too aggressively and the Tennessee Titans quarterback might break free for a big gain with his legs.

The chess match on the football field takes place on Sunday when the Packers travel to Nashville to face Tennessee.

"Stay in our rush lanes, just be as disruptive as we can," Packers pass rusher Datone Jones said after practice Thursday. "Just got to rush smart."

NEW YORK (AP) — Green Bay linebacker Datone Jones was fined $36,464 by the NFL on Friday for his roughing-the-passer penalty against Atlanta last week.

Jones is a repeat offender, resulting in the large amount doled out by the league Friday. Last Sunday, Jones hit Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan in the first half of Atlanta's 33-32 victory.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — An unusually early bye week did the Green Bay Packers some good.

The team returned to work Monday and practiced for about 90 minutes at nearly full strength as a few key defensive players returned from injury.

"The bye couldn't have come at a (more) perfect time," veteran safety Morgan Burnett said. "Now we're getting guys back, getting guys healthy, and that's what you really want going down the stretch."
