Native Hawaiian composer’s new work inspired by Lahaina noon

HONOLULU (AP) — Native Hawaiian composer and violinist Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti will premiere a new work this month inspired by Lahaina noon, the Honolulu mayor's office said Friday.

The Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts commissioned the composition together with Chamber Music Hawaii.

HONOLULU (AP) — The first and only woman to serve as mayor of Honolulu died earlier this month at age 93.

Eileen Anderson, who was mayor from 1981 to 1985, died Nov. 3, Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi announced Tuesday.
