EAST KINGSTON, N.H. (AP) — Officials say Amtrak's Downeaster crashed into a car whose driver followed GPS directions onto train tracks in New Hampshire.

East Kingston Fire Chief Ed Warren says a Good Samaritan saw headlights on the tracks and helped the driver escape from the car. The Toyota was destroyed when the Downeaster rolled through moments later, shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday.

BEIJING (AP) — China has added two satellites to its homegrown global navigation and positioning network that seeks to reduce reliance on the U.S.-based Global Positioning System, state media reported Monday.

The pair of Beidou-3 satellites were launched aboard a single Long March-3B rocket from the Xichang launch center in the southwestern province of Sichuan on Sunday night, broadcaster CCTV and the Xinhua News Agency reported.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Biologists have put tracking collars on each of the 24 elk recently released in West Virginia.
