SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Riders on horseback are nudging bison on Utah's Antelope Island in an annual roundup of one of the country's largest and oldest public herds.
Utah State Parks workers kicked off the roundup, now in its 30th year, Saturday morning.
Hundreds of bison are being pushed into corrals near Whiterock Bay so they can eventually be given health checkups, vaccinations and even a small external computer chip to store health information.
The roundup continues to draw spectators ever year.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a pilot flying a small plane has crashed into Utah's Great Salt Lake but was rescued by a Utah State Parks boat.
Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke says the pilot was the only person aboard the plane. He says the pilot in good condition after the crash and did not require much medical attention.
Lohrke says the crash happened early Thursday afternoon and a rescue boat from a nearby marina was able to quickly bring the pilot aboard.
