DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota is ending 2017 on a frigid note.
Days of arctic cold are persisting. The National Weather Service reports Embarrass in northeastern Minnesota dropped to a low of 45 degrees below zero Sunday. International Falls bottomed out at 32 below while Duluth dropped to 24 below.
St. Cloud in central Minnesota recorded a low of 24 below. Minneapolis-St. Paul hit 16 below.

The "Nation's Icebox" is feeling the chill and setting a record.
ERIE, Pa. (AP) — Freezing temperatures and below-zero wind chills socked much of the northern United States on Wednesday, even setting a record in a Minnesota city so cold it's called the Icebox of the Nation, and will stay put for days to come as snow-hardened Erie digs out from a record snowfall.
Forecasters warned of hypothermia and frostbite from arctic air settling in over the central U.S. and spreading east.
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — An arctic wave is bringing record cold to northeastern Minnesota.
The National Weather Service reports International Falls and Hibbing set record low temperatures on Wednesday morning. International Falls — the self-proclaimed "Nation's Icebox" — plunged to 37 degrees below zero, breaking the old record of 32 below set in 1924, while Hibbing bottomed out at 28 below, breaking the old record of 27 below set in 1964.
INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. (AP) — A massive fire in northern Minnesota has destroyed a heating oil and fuel company near the Canadian border.
Rainy Lake Oil Co. erupted in huge plumes of fire, fueled by eight or nine tanks inside the company's warehouse Monday night near International Falls.
The local fire department says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
