Bekker shares 1st-round lead at Catalunya Championship

GIRONA, Spain (AP) — Oliver Bekker shot a 6-under 66 to take a share of the first-round lead at the Catalunya Championship on Thursday.

Seeking his first European tour win, the South African made eight birdies and a double bogey at the Stadium Course to finish tied with Jeff Winther and Darren Fichardt.

SANTA PONSA, Spain (AP) — Getting trapped in the bathroom didn't stop Jeff Winther from winning his first European Tour title at the Mallorca Open on Sunday.

The 33-year-old Dane shot even-par 70 in the final round to finish 15 under for the tournament on the Mediterranean island’s Santa Ponsa course.

SANTA PONSA, Spain (AP) — Bryce Easton was leading the Mallorca Open on Friday when the second round was suspended because of darkness on the Mediterranean island.

Easton had a four-shot lead when play was stopped with the South African still to finish the 18th hole.
