The Washington Commanders re-signed kicker Joey Slye on Monday, a move designed to solidify a position that was in flux much of last season.
Slye signed a two-year deal that could be worth up to $5 million with $2 million guaranteed, according to a person with knowledge of the move.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Brian Johnson made quite the first impression on his new Washington teammates.
Johnson kicked the go-ahead 48-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining five days after joining the team and Washington beat the Las Vegas Raiders 17-15 on Sunday for its fifth straight win.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Zane Gonzalez thought there was a possibility he might wind up with the Carolina Panthers following a strong tryout with the team this past June in which he was “pretty much perfect” on his field-goal and extra-point attempts.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Ryan Santoso didn’t take long to leave an impression on the Carolina Panthers coaching staff — and steal a roster spot from the slumping Joey Slye.
The Panthers cut Slye on Saturday in favor of the 6-foot-5, 258-pound Santoso, who was acquired in a trade Thursday with the New York Giants.
