Pandemic food program ending after distributing many meals

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A food box program with its roots in the early days of the pandemic is ending after distributing tens of thousands of meals to people across Vermont.

In June, the Full Plates Vermont program run by the Vermont Foodbank took over the Farmers to Families Food Box program that was begun by the U.S.

Vermont to replace federal food box program

A new Vermont program will replace a federal food assistance program that started during the coronavirus pandemic to help people in need and is ending in two weeks.

The USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program supplied tens of thousands of food boxes to Vermonters during the peak of the pandemic, mychamplainvalley.com reported.
