Webb holds off Sorenstam in Senior LPGA Championship

SALINA, Kan. (AP) — Karrie Webb held off Annika Sorenstam on Sunday in the Senior LPGA Championship for her first senior title.

The 47-year-old Webb closed with a 5-under 67 for a four-shot victory at Salina Country Club.

SALINA, Kan. (AP) — Karrie Webb shot a 6-under 66 in windy and hot conditions Saturday to take a two-stroke lead over playing partner Annika Sorenstam in the Senior LPGA Championship.

Webb had six birdies in the bogey-free round in 100-degree heat and wind gusting to 30 mph.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Seven-time LPGA major winner Karrie Webb has been nominated to captain Australia's golfers at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Golf Australia said Friday that Webb would replace 1991 British Open winner Ian-Baker Finch, who captained Australia at the sport's inaugural appearance at Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and again at Tokyo 2020.
