LAWRENCE, Ind. (AP) — An Indianapolis suburb is hoping to boost its profile and attract new visitors with a cultural district promoting the arts and the area's military history.

Lilly Endowment Inc. awarded the city of Lawrence and the nonprofit Arts for Lawrence $5.85 million to build the Fort Harrison Cultural Campus. Plans for the campus include new performance and visual-arts spaces, interactive play areas and an augmented-reality app showcasing the history of Fort Harrison.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis' centerpiece Monument Circle is getting an upgrade including a nightly patriotic light-and-sound display.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Lilly Endowment Inc. has approved 24 grants nationwide totaling more than $20 million to help clergy working in congregations thrive as pastoral leaders.

The Indianapolis-based foundation this week announced the grants will help seminaries, universities and other organizations create or strengthen programs that help pastors build relationships with experienced clergy who can serve as role models and mentors.

Lilly Endowment Inc. announced Tuesday it's giving $10 million to the proposed International African American Museum in Charleston.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee State University plans to enhance student career development initiatives with a $2 million grant that is part of the United Negro College Fund Career Pathways Initiative.

The pilot program is intended to enable certain historically black colleges and universities and predominantly black institutions to address social and economic issues of minority graduation, unemployment and underemployment.
