PHOENIX (AP) — Marcin Gortat figures he is the beneficiary of coach Doc Rivers' New Year's resolution.
Gortat had not played in the fourth quarter in the first 36 games of the season until the calendar turned, and he responded with his first double-double of the season when the Clippers extended their dominance of the Phoenix Suns with a 121-111 victory Friday night.
"You never know with Doc," Gortat said after getting 18 points and 13 rebounds in 25 minutes.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The best NBA team in Los Angeles right now isn't the one with LeBron James.
It's the no-name Clippers.
Going into Wednesday, the Clippers were fourth in the rugged Western Conference at 8-5, with overtime wins against defending NBA champion Golden State and Milwaukee, as well as Oklahoma City and Houston (twice).
"We're going to keep on getting better," leading scorer Tobias Harris said. "We've showed we can play with the best of them."
WASHINGTON (AP) — Seemed fairly clear that Marcin Gortat and the Washington Wizards were ready to part ways. Now they will.
The Wizards traded Gortat, their starting center, to the Los Angeles Clippers for guard Austin Rivers on Tuesday night. Both players are entering the final season of their contracts and are set to earn similar salaries, making a straight-up exchange work under NBA rules.
LONDON (AP) — The NBA will return to London next year with a regular-season game between the Washington Wizards and the New York Knicks.
Tickets for the Jan. 17 game at the O2 Arena go on sale in the fall.
It will be the NBA's ninth regular-season game in London, all sellouts. The Knicks have played there twice, facing the Detroit Pistons in 2013 and the Milwaukee Bucks in 2015. This will be the Wizards' debut in London.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards delivered in a big game in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Beal scored 19 points, Marcin Gortat had 18 and the Wizards beat the Pacers 109-102 on Saturday night in a possible postseason preview.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — If the Washington Wizards are missing All-Star point guard John Wall, they certainly aren't showing it.
Washington won its fourth straight game while Wall is sidelined because of a knee injury, pounding the Orlando Magic 115-98 on Saturday night.
Tomas Satoransky, who replaced Wall in the starting lineup, had a career-high 19 points, six assists and wasn't needed in the fourth quarter after helping the Wizards blow open the game in the third.
WASHINGTON (AP) — For weeks, the Washington Wizards have been hearing about their struggles against teams with losing records. Now that they've won two straight and elevated their record to 11-10 against sub-.500 teams, perhaps they've taken a step toward ending that discussion.
"We'll find out in the next 10, 20 games," Washington center Marcin Gortat said.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Wizards point guard John Wall isn't known for his 3-point shooting.
Don't tell that to the Sacramento Kings.
Wall had 21 points and nine assists, Marcin Gortat scored 18 and Washington beat Sacramento 110-92 on Monday night for its third straight win.

WASHINGTON (AP) — John Wall and the rest of the Washington Wizards' core is exactly the same as it was last season, which essentially amounts to a radical decision to stand pat in today's NBA.
"We know how each other wants to play. We know what they're great at, what they're not great at. It makes the job a lot easier for us," Wall said Monday at the team's media day before training camp begins in Richmond, Virginia. "I don't like new change. I don't like dealing with new people, new stuff."
WASHINGTON (AP) — For the third time in four seasons, John Wall and Bradley Beal exited the playoffs in the second round, extending the Washington Wizards' nearly four-decade drought without a conference finals appearance.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Kevin Durant has a hyperextended left knee and the Golden State Warriors are preparing for his absence even before knowing how long he could be sidelined.
Durant was hurt Tuesday early in Golden State's 112-108 loss to Washington and the Warriors said he would have an MRI exam. Results are expected Wednesday but the Warriors aren't waiting to line up another forward.
NEW YORK (AP) — The result of the game was expected. But, given the different paths these teams have been on, the drama was not.
Bradley Beale scored 31 points, John Wall added 23 points and 12 assists, and Otto Porter Jr. had 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Washington Wizards won for the eighth time in their last nine games and sent the Brooklyn Nets to their 11th straight loss with a 114-110 overtime victory Wednesday night.

Wiggins had 41 points on 16-of-30 shooting, but it wasn't enough on a night the Wizards shot 58.2 percent (46 of 79).

These days they're playing well enough to overcome it.
John Wall had 36 points and 11 rebounds, and the Wizards held off the Pacers 111-105 on Wednesday night despite losing Beal to a sprained right ankle.
Wall, who started 1 of 5 from the field, finished 11 of 19 and scored 23 points in the second half.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A month removed from a dreadful start to the season, the Washington Wizards just might becoming together under coach Scott Brooks.
