RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Jordan Martinook to a two-year contract extension worth an average of $2 million per season.
General manager Don Waddell said Tuesday that Martinook's extension will begin next season.
The 26-year-old Martinook has 10 goals and three assists in 50 games while leading the team with 125 hits and blocking 28 shots — the most by a Carolina forward.
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks traded Marian Hossa and Vinnie Hinostroza to the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, parting with a promising young forward in order to clear out a troublesome contract.
The Blackhawks also sent defenseman Jordan Oesterle and a third-round pick in the 2019 draft to the Coyotes for forwards Marcus Kruger, MacKenzie Entwistle and Jordan Maletta, defenseman Andrew Campbell and a fifth-round pick in next year's draft.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired left wing Jordan Martinook from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for center Marcus Kruger.
Under terms of the deal announced Thursday, the teams also swapped later-round draft picks and the Hurricanes will retain 10 percent of Kruger's salary, or about $300,000 of the roughly $3 million Kruger is set to make in 2018-19.
The 25-year-old Martinook had six goals and nine assists in 81 games during his fourth NHL season.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Vegas Golden Knights have landed Chicago Blackhawks center Marcus Kruger, after all.
Two weeks after not selecting Kruger in the NHL expansion draft, Vegas gave up undisclosed future considerations to acquire the two-time Stanley Cup-winner in a trade with the Blackhawks on Sunday.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Patrick Kane darted behind the Pittsburgh Penguins net, seemingly intent on trying to bend a wraparound past Marc-Andre Fleury.
Halfway there, the Chicago Blackhawks star changed his mind, instead flipping a backhand pass to Artemi Panarin at the left post. Panarin flicked the puck off an unsuspecting Fleury — caught looking the other way — and into the net.
Seems nobody can see the Blackhawks coming these days. Not even the defending Stanley Cup champions.
CHICAGO (AP) — After a sluggish start, Jonathan Toews and the Chicago Blackhawks stormed back late with a rapid-fire rally to strengthen their grip on first place in the Central Division — and the Western Conference.
Toews scored twice and Richard Panik and Artemi Panarin each had a goal in a span of 3:02 in the third period to erase Colorado's two-goal lead and send the Blackhawks past the Avalanche 6-3 on Sunday night for their fifth straight win.
CHICAGO (AP) — Marian Hossa scored his team-leading 12th goal through a screen at 1:31 of overtime to lift the Chicago Blackhawks to a 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night.
Hossa's shot through traffic from high in the slot beat Cory Schneider on the glove side, moments after New Jersey's Mike Cammalleri hit the post on a prime chance against Chicago's Corey Crawford.
