Washington (21-11) has won seven straight and is one game behind second-place Atlanta (22-10), with the top two seeds getting double-byes in the playoffs.
ATLANTA (AP) — Brittney Sykes scored 12 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter Sunday to help the Atlanta Dream beat the Washington Mystics 80-77.
The Dream (12-9) led 74-64 on Sykes' free throws with 5:26 left before the Mystics (13-9) went on an 11-2 run to pull within one. Washington had a chance to go ahead in the final seconds after Monique Currie's defensive rebound with 13.9 seconds left, but Kristi Toliver missed an 18-foot jumper and Angel McCoughtry grabbed the rebound.
CHICAGO (AP) — Elena Delle Donne scored 22 of her 30 points in the first half in the Washington Mystics' 93-77 victory over the Chicago Sky on Friday night.
Delle Donne added 10 rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Kristi Tolliver scored 13 points — all in the first half — and Monique Currie added 11 for the Mystics (8-5).

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) — Brittney Griner had 26 points and nine rebounds, Diana Taurasi added 23 points, and the Phoenix Mercury beat the Connecticut Sun 88-83 on Sunday to reach the semifinals of the WNBA playoffs.
Taurasi moved to 11-0 in elimination playoff games.
Phoenix will play second-seeded Los Angeles on Tuesday night in Game 1 of a best-of-five series.

Both teams have already clinched playoff spots in the Western Conference, and the Lynx leads the competition with 23 wins and six losses.

Dallas scored the first six points of overtime, but Currie's 3-pointer from the corner put Phoenix ahead 99-98 with 58.9 seconds left. After Robinson's makes, Allisha Gray hit two free throws with 31.9 seconds left to pull Dallas to 101-100.

NEW YORK (AP) — League MVP Nneka Ogwumike is the new WNBA players' union president.
She succeeds Tamika Catchings, who held that role since 2004 before retiring from the league at the end of this past season.
Ogwumike is joined on the executive committee by Layshia Clarendon (first vice president), Monique Currie and Chiney Ogwumike (vice presidents) and Monica Wright (secretary-treasurer). All were elected based on voting that occurred on Oct. 14.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Diana Taurasi had all of her 18 points in the first half and the Phoenix Mercury beat the San Antonio Stars 81-65 in the regular-season finale for both teams on Sunday.
Phoenix (16-18) will be the eighth seed in the playoffs and play at Indiana in the first round.
The Mercury pulled away with a 10-1 run to end the second quarter ahead 45-33. The Stars (7-27) closed within 64-58 late in the third, but the Mercury went on a 12-0 run to lead by 18 with 6:52 left in the game.
ATLANTA (AP) — Astou Ndour scored a career-high 20 points, Moriah Jefferson added 19 points and the San Antonio Stars beat the Atlanta Dream 71-67 on Tuesday night to end a six-game losing streak.
Ndour scored 10 of San Antonio's final 14 points. She hit two free throws to give the Stars a 59-57 lead and made another one on their next possession. She added two layups and hit a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left to extend San Antonio's lead to 67-63.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Seimone Augustus scored 20, Maya Moore had 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, and the Minnesota Lynx beat the San Antonio Stars 81-76 on Sunday.
Augustus put the Lynx ahead for good with 45 seconds left on a jumper from the right wing and made both free throws to extend the lead to 79-76 with 23.2 seconds left.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Lynetta Kizer scored nine of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, Briann January hit two free throws with 2.2 seconds left and the Indiana Fever beat the San Antonio Stars 71-69 on Tuesday night.
Monique Currie made a baseline jumper for San Antonio with 1:07 left to tie it at 69-all and she drew a charge on January at the other end. The Stars were whistled for a shot-clock violation on their next possession and Indiana called timeout with 17.8 seconds left.
ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Elena Delle Donne made 12 of 20 shots and scored 35 points to help the Chicago Sky beat the San Antonio Stars 97-73 on Sunday night for their fourth straight victory.
Chicago was ahead 73-63 after three quarters and Delle Donne scored 10 of the Sky's first 11 points of the fourth for an 84-67 lead.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Monique Currie, Jazmon Gwathmey and Astou Ndour scored 16 points each and the San Antonio Stars beat the Washington Mystics 85-74 on Sunday to end a six-game losing streak.
San Antonio (6-19) outscored the Mystics 26-6 in the second quarter, including nine straight points to end the half up 43-20.
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Monique Currie scored nine of her season-high 20 points in the fourth quarter and San Antonio beat the Washington Mystics 77-70 on Wednesday night without the Stars' leading scorer Kayla McBride.
San Antonio announced prior to the game that McBride would miss the rest of the season with a right foot fracture. The Stars responded with three starters scoring 16-plus points.
