Octopus ancestors lived before era of dinosaurs, study shows
March 8, 2022 GMTWASHINGTON (AP) — Scientists have found the oldest known ancestor of octopuses – an approximately 330 million-year-old fossil unearthed in Montana.
The researchers concluded the ancient creature lived millions of years earlier than previously believed, meaning that octopuses originated before the era of dinosaurs.
Ancient crab fossil found on Assateague Island

Sharon Conn, a visitor to the area, found the fossil in early October on the Virginia portion of Assateague Island.

The News Journal in Wilmington reported Tuesday that the unmarked graves were found in 2014 on a former plantation near Rehoboth Beach.
