Swiss sanction Gazprombank in wake of Panama Papers leak

GENEVA (AP) — Switzerland's market regulator said Thursday it has banned the Swiss affiliate of Russia's Gazprombank from taking new private clients over money laundering concerns over a 10-year period that emerged from the Panama Papers leak.

Bomb kills journalist who exposed Malta’s ties to tax havens

VALLETTA, Malta (AP) — A Maltese investigative journalist who exposed the island nation's links to offshore tax havens through the leaked Panama Papers was killed Monday when a bomb exploded in her car, the prime minister said.

Daphne Caruana Galizia, 53, had just driven away from her home in Mosta, a large town on Malta's main island, when the bomb went off, sending the vehicle's wreckage spiraling over a wall and into a field, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said.

France investigating 500 taxpayers after Panama Papers leaks

PARIS (AP) — The French government is investigating the tax records of about 560 taxpayers based on leaked documents from a Panamian law firm.

The budget office of the Finance Ministry said Thursday its experts have studied the leaked information and are now digging deeper into 560 specific cases. It didn't identify any of the taxpayers involved.
