Creed had raced dirt bikes, progressed through quarter midgets and had landed in an off-road truck, where he found immediate success. He won the Robby Gordon Stadium Super Truck Series titles in 2015 and 2016, and it was a lot more fun dominating races than learning the ropes.
TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — Zane Smith edged Joseph Graf Jr. by inches on the second overtime lap to win a crash-filled ARCA Series race Friday at Talladega Superspeedway.
Smith won for the second time in the past three races, with ARCA unable to determine the margin of victory because the cars were so close as they raced side by side throughout the overtime lap.
The 18-year-old Californian came in second in the championship standings. Before winning at Nashville, he had finished second three times.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Michael Self survived two multi-car melees in the closing laps to win the crash-filled ARCA Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday.
Self pulled away from the field on a third and final one-lap shootout. He stayed out front without any challenges and won the three-plus-hour race to kick off Speedweeks.
"Survive, man," Self said. "Just survived, got lucky, made it through a couple of wrecks. Just overcame a lot. This thing has been beat up."
