The imam of Madrid's main mosque has condemned the deadly attacks last week in and near Barcelona. He says that "those who carry out this kind of act represent neither Islam nor Muslims."
During Friday prayers, Housam Khoja spoke in Arabic and Spanish so that everybody could understand his condemnation. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attacks that killed 15 people.

Spain's National Court says that one of the four suspects in deadly attacks last week in and around Barcelona has been conditionally freed because of a lack of evidence against him.
Judge Fernando Andreu ruled that Salh El Karib's passport should be confiscated and that he will be required to show up in court once a week while he remains under investigation.

Spanish police says they have "scientific evidence" that a fugitive shot to death Monday was the man who drove a van through Barcelona's crowded Las Ramblas promenade, killing 13 people last week.
Authorities say 22-year-old Younes Abouyaaqoub flashed what turned out to be a fake suicide belt at two troopers who shot him in a vineyard not far from the city he terrorized.

Police in the southern French city of Nimes have arrested a man unlawfully carrying a pistol into a train station, but say he is not linked to the attacks in Barcelona.
After an evacuation and police operation at the train station Saturday night, the historic city quickly returned to normal, with police returning to their posts.

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has asked people to pray for a young Australian boy who is missing after a vehicle attack on a popular Barcelona promenade that killed 13 people.
Turnbull said Saturday that the boy's mother was badly injured and is in a hospital following Friday's attack at the Las Ramblas promenade. Turnbull says the boy's family is searching for him. He did not release the boy's name.
