LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears have hired Mark DeLeone as inside linebackers coach.

DeLeone spent the past six seasons on Andy Reid's staff in Kansas City and worked with Bears coach Matt Nagy from 2013-17. DeLeone coached inside linebackers this season after serving as the Chiefs' assistant linebackers coach (2015-17) and defensive quality control coach (2013-14).

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid arrived Sunday on the campus of Missouri Western State University to start his 20th season as an NFL head coach, yet finds himself energized by what's new on his football team for 2018.

"There's more new I would say on both sides of the ball," Reid said. "Some of the old guys that have been here aren't here."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs signed second-round draft pick Breeland Speaks to his four-year rookie contract Thursday, making him the third of their six draft selections to sign a deal.

Kansas City did not have a first-round pick this year after trading it away last year to move up and select quarterback Patrick Mahomes II. So, new general manager Brett Veach waited until the 46th overall pick to grab Speaks, who is expected to bolster the Chiefs' weak pass rush this season.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs have released one of their career sack leaders, Tamba Hali, and veteran stalwart of their secondary, Ron Parker, moves designed to help Kansas City get younger on defense and have some financial freedom for the start of free agency.

The Chiefs parted ways with longtime linebacker Hali on Monday. The move was hardly a surprise given his decreased production.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward is active for Los Angeles' crucial AFC West showdown Saturday night with the Kansas City Chiefs after a calf injury landed him on this week's injury report.

Hayward had been questionable for the matchup between 7-6 teams tied atop the division.

Chiefs defensive end Tamba Hali is active after missing practice with his chronically ailing knees, while linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (quad) and safety Eric Murray (ankle) are also available.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs pass rushers Tamba Hali and Dee Ford have been ruled out Sunday against the New York Giants, while defensive lineman Allen Bailey was also ruled out for their struggling defense.

Wide receiver Albert Wilson was also ruled out Friday for the third straight game with a bad hamstring.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs have activated linebacker Tamba Hali from the physically unable to perform list, though it's uncertain whether the five-time Pro Bowl selection will play Sunday in Dallas.

Hali missed the entire offseason program and training camp to rest and rehabilitate his ailing knees. He practiced for the first time Thursday and was taken off the PUP list Saturday.

The Chiefs waived cornerback D.J. White to make room for Hali on the 53-man roster.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali returned to practice for the first time since the end of last season, though it's unclear when he will be activated from the physically unable to perform list.

Hali's return Thursday begins a three-week window in which the Chiefs must decide whether to activate Hali or shut him down for the season. The 33-year-old Hali missed the offseason program and all of training camp to rest and rehabilitate his ailing knees.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston was limited in the final practice for Sunday's divisional playoff game against Pittsburgh, though his game status was left blank on the final injury report.

That means Houston should be available for the first time since a loss to Tennessee on Dec. 18.
