Wei-Yin Chen gets 1st hit after 0-for-51 start

NEW YORK (AP) — Wei-Yin Chen sent a slow roller toward shortstop. When Asdrubal Cabrera picked up the ball on the infield grass and realized there was no point making a throw, the pitcher crossed first base with his first major league hit after an 0-for-51 start at the plate.

Red Sox empty bullpen, use 7 pitchers to shut out Orioles

BOSTON (AP) — First-time starter Craig Breslow and six relievers combined on a five-hitter and the Boston Red Sox beat Baltimore 8-0 Saturday, further denting the Orioles' slim playoff hopes.

A day after Boston journeyman Rich Hill blanked Baltimore on a two-hitter, the Red Sox emptied their bullpen.
