LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears are uncertain whether outside linebacker Leonard Floyd and tight end Adam Shaheen will be available to start the regular season after suffering injuries Saturday in a 24-23 preseason win at Denver.
Floyd underwent surgery Sunday to repair a broken bone in his right hand. Coach Matt Nagy said Monday that Floyd's hand won't be healed by the Sept. 9 season opener at Green Bay but that Floyd may play through the injury.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears might look for a pass rusher or help on the offensive line when the draft resumes Friday after taking Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith with the No. 8 overall pick.
The Bears grabbed a potential cornerstone defensive player in the first round Thursday rather than add another weapon for prized quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears defensive end Akiem Hicks had just sacked Carolina's Cam Newton.
Then he paid tribute to an injured teammate.
Hicks waved his arms as if he were casting a fishing rod, just as outside linebacker Willie Young does when he's the one taking down the quarterback.
Bears defenders have reeled in plenty of big plays the past two weeks, enough to carry Chicago to back-to-back wins.
CHICAGO (AP) — Even after a switch in quarterbacks to Mitchell Trubisky, the Chicago Bears continued to lose.
Now 1-4, the Bears also continue to lose players while committing the same mistakes on the field.
Linebacker Willie Young went on injured reserve Tuesday with a triceps injury after missing Monday's 20-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bears have placed outside linebacker Willie Young on injured reserve because of a triceps injury.
Young was injured against Green Bay on Sept. 28. He has seven tackles and two sacks this season. Young has 26 sacks in four seasons with Chicago and 32 in eight years with the Bears and Detroit Lions.
CHICAGO (AP) — Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford was active for Monday's game against the Chicago Bears after missing the previous three because of a left knee injury.
Bradford experienced swelling and soreness following a strong season opener against New Orleans and sought a second opinion from the surgeon who performed both his ACL reconstructions, Dr. James Andrews.
CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago linebacker Pernell McPhee will miss the Bears' season-finale Sunday at Minnesota because of a shoulder injury.
McPhee, who has four sacks in nine games, sat out practices all week and did not travel with the team on Saturday. He missed the first six games following offseason knee surgery.
Linebacker Leonard Floyd is doubtful because of a concussion, and Willie Young is questionable because of a knee injury.
CHICAGO (AP) — Linebacker Leonard Floyd will likely miss the Chicago Bears' season finale at Minnesota on Sunday because of a concussion.
Floyd was listed as doubtful after sitting out practice all week. He was injured in Saturday's loss to Washington.
The No. 9 overall draft pick, Floyd is tied for second among NFL rookies with seven sacks.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Brian Hoyer's three straight 300-yard passing efforts suggest the quarterback position for the Chicago Bears is in good hands until quarterback Jay Cutler returns from a thumb sprain.
Inconsistency in other areas continues to plague the Bears (1-4) following their 29-23 loss Sunday at Indianapolis.
Linebacker Willie Young said coach John Fox addressed the issue in talking with players ahead of a home game Sunday against Jacksonville.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears have not won a game this season, and they have not beaten the Detroit Lions since 2012.
One victory would end two slides.
Chicago is 0-3 for the second time in as many seasons under coach John Fox and would match its worst start since 2000 with a loss Sunday against Detroit. The last time the Bears beat the Lions (1-2) was when they took both games in 2012.
