HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — The NHL and players remain committed to hosting a World Cup of Hockey in February 2024 even as they work through some unexpected logistical challenges.

Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly, Mathieu Schneider from the Players' Association and their staffs are working daily to attempt to overcome hurdles related to staging part of the tournament in Europe.

Slovak defenseman Andrej Sekera, 36, announces retirement

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Andrej Sekera announced his retirement on Tuesday after almost two decades in the NHL.

The Slovak defenseman played the past 15 full seasons since making his debut in 2006.

Bettman: NHL going worldwide with revival of Global Series

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The NHL is ready to go worldwide again after two years of coronavirus restrictions and a missed Olympics.

Commissioner Gary Bettman announced Friday that the NHL Global Series will return next season with preseason games in Germany and Switzerland, followed by regular-season games in Finland and the Czech Republic.
