A New Approach to Election Data From Boost Innovation

October 6, 2021 GMT

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 6, 2021--

Boost Innovation recently completed a data collection of voters in Calgary ahead of the municipal election. The release on October, 1 st went off silently but as soon as one campaign published the data, opinions and emotions began to fly.

“Our goal in collecting this data was to begin to innovate in the field of election polling. The outrage at a local company attempting to give more accurate insight is, in my opinion, exactly the opposite attitude of what Calgary needs to build businesses here for the future,” says Ken King, Boost Innovation’s Founder & CEO.

The results were shared by one of the campaigns and accusations of bias and inaccuracy immediately followed.

“We have seen miscues in election polling in recent history. We saw it when Mayor Nenshi won, when Donald Trump won, and we even saw examples in the recent federal election. What I know for sure is that there is room in this space for improvement and we are excited to be in the arena of improving the way data is collected around elections on behalf of every voter.”

Moving forward, Boost’s goal is to continue to innovate in the political science field in order to better inform on future elections as well. They strongly believe that current polling tactics favor incumbents, and are bias towards older populations.
