OAK RIDGE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 4, 2021--

ORISE is currently accepting applications for the 2022 U.S. Department of Homeland Security Summer Research Team Program for Minority-Serving Institutions. The purpose of this program is to increase and enhance the scientific leadership at minority-serving institutions in research areas that support the mission and goals of DHS. ORISE administers this program through an interagency agreement between the U.S. Department of Energy and DHS.

This program, sponsored by the DHS Science and Technology Directorate Office of University Programs, provides faculty and student research teams the opportunity to conduct research at university-based DHS Centers of Excellence, a network of hundreds of universities generating ground-breaking ideas for new technologies and critical knowledge while relying on each other’s capabilities to serve the mission needs of DHS. The DHS Centers’ research portfolio is a mix of basic and applied research, addressing both short and long term needs by coordinating multidisciplinary homeland security research among leading experts and researchers to enhance the education students receive. Each DHS Center is university-led or co-led in collaboration with partners from other institutions, agencies, national laboratories, think tanks and the private sector.
