KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 22, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- EDCare is pleased to announce the opening of its second Adolescent Treatment Center. Located in Overland Park, Kansas, EDCare’s Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (AIOP) is designed to support patients and their families confronting the challenges of an eating disorder. Open to teens 14-17 years old, and utilizing Family Based Treatment (FBT), the unique program is designed to help adolescents address, discover, and resolve their eating disorder triggers. EDCare’s empowerment-based treatment model empowers individuals with the skills, support, and resources they need to move toward lasting recovery and lifelong wellness.

According to the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), in a group of 14 and 15 year olds, dieting was the most important predictor of a developing eating disorder. Those who dieted moderately were five times more likely to develop an eating disorder. Those who practiced extreme restriction were eighteen times more likely to develop an eating disorder than those who did not.
