‘Did Your Part?’ on COVID Vaccinations, Asks New AHF Billboard Campaign

In response to a genuine sense of hesitancy in some quarters and fears about COVID vaccines found across many segments of the public, AIDS Healthcare Foundation ( AHF ) has launched a new advocacy and awareness campaign encouraging vaccination to prevent COVID-19 infections and/or reduce the severity of a possible infection or course of the disease.

As part of the campaign, AHF is rolling out a series of new billboards and transit advertising with artwork featuring various close-up images of different people getting vaccinated tagged with the simple, probing headline: “Did Your Part?” coupled with the website address: GetCOVIDvax.org and/or for Spanish speakers and viewers of the campaign, consigavacunaCOVID.org.
AHF’s latest campaign kicks off with billboards and transit shelter ads going up in Los Angeles beginning the first week in March and will expand nationwide to other cities AHF operates in the coming weeks and months. In Los Angeles, 21 billboards will post throughout the city and county including seven billboards targeting Spanish speaking residents and six focusing on African American communities. The billboard campaign comes on the heels of the chaotic roll out of COVID vaccinations in Los Angeles, throughout California and across the nation. The rollout has been a poorly coordinated, often bungled overall response to the pandemic in California, further heightening the need for a campaign like AHF’s.
AHF ran a related full-page “Doing Your Part on COVID?” ad in the Los Angeles Times in mid-February with a fuller message encouraging people to consider vaccination against COVID-19.
AHF also ran an earlier ad urging state and local leaders to allow for a stepped-up, coordinated and decentralized response with scientists, doctors and community leaders taking the lead rather than politicians. That full-page color ad, headlined “California: Get it Together on COVID 19!” ran Sunday, January 17, 2021, also in the Los Angeles Times, and noted that several fundamental public health principles have not been followed throughout the pandemic—actions which have hampered an effective overall response on a local and statewide level.
