The Stefan Soloviev foundation has donated $1m to Americares as an aid to help the Ukrainians deal with the effects of the Russian invasion of their country. The foundation chairman, Stefan Soloviev, argues that he was moved by the cruel acts of Putin and felt that he should do something to help the country from which his grandmother hailed.
“My family has deep roots in Sweden, eastern Europe and Russia, and one of my grandmothers was Ukrainian,….What Putin has done to Ukraine and its people is an atrocity. I felt I had to do something, and this donation is my way of helping the people of Ukraine and honoring the memory of my Ukrainian grandmother,” said Stefan Soloviev, Patch.com.
