Breaking: Hailstorm barrels through DeKalb County

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning late Thursday morning, warning that a storm moving through DeKalb County was capable of producing tornadoes.

A storm producing wind gusts at 60 mph passed through DeKalb at about 45 mph, and pelted parts of the city with hailstones that the weather service said could be the size of a quarter and damage vehicles.

Locations expected to be affected by the storm include...Aurora, Joliet, Oswego, Batavia, Sycamore, Yorkville, Little Rock,Plano, Sandwich, DeKalb, Montgomery, North Aurora, Sugar Grove,Elburn, Cortland, Hinckley, Waterman, Maple Park, Malta and Boulder Hill, along with Interstate 88 between mile markers 86 and 120, the weather service said.
